The comparison with September 2022 remains favorable in terms of price but not in terms of occupancy. Indeed, the overall occupancy rate of hotels in France stands at 74.2% in September 2024, marking a decrease of 2.0 points compared to 2022 and 1.7 points compared to 2023. This decline reflects a normalization of performance following major sporting events over the past 12 months.

As for the average price, it experienced a slight decrease of 1.6% compared to 2023, reaching €136.8, while RevPAR fell by 3.8%, amounting to €101.5. However, in comparison to September 2022, the average price shows an increase of +9.2%, allowing RevPAR in September 2024 to remain 6.3% higher than in September 2022.

Regarding the previous year, the overall decline in hotel performance in September is once again influenced by the economic and super-economic segments, which have been hit hard. The occupancy rate in these segments has dropped by 2.0 to 4.0 points, leading to a significant decrease in RevPAR, particularly in the super-economic sector, where it declined by 8.7% compared to 2023. Accommodation volumes are noticeably down, as the absence of rugby supporters combines with a decrease in business client volumes, which are often cautious and affected by an unfavorable context (notably in the construction sector). In contrast, the upscale segment, supported by its international clientele, is holding up better.

Overall, Paris and Île-de-France are faring better than other regions, which are struggling to maintain their performance compared to last year. Paris stands out with a high occupancy rate of 83.3%, finally stabilized compared to the previous year. However, RevPAR there has decreased by 6.3%, returning to its level of September 2022, following a September 2023 where the Rugby World Cup primarily drove prices up.
