In his new role, Romero will be responsible for driving the global development strategy of Minor Hotels, identifying new business opportunities, and overseeing the planning and execution of projects. He will also be involved in managing the company’s luxury brands, ensuring the creation of quality experiences in every project. Based in Bangkok, he will report to Dillip Rajakarier, CEO of Minor Hotels.
Omar Romero brings over 20 years of experience in the hospitality industry. Before joining Minor Hotels, he served as Chief Development Officer at Six Senses, where he led the global development team and was instrumental in signing more than 50 hotel management agreements. His international experience is seen as an asset to support Minor Hotels’ expansion.
Development ambitions of Minor Hotels
Romero’s appointment is part of a series of recruitments within Minor Hotels as the group seeks to intensify its development efforts. Recently, Puneet Dhawan was appointed as Head of Asia, and Gonzalo Aguilar will replace Ramón Aragonés as the head of Europe and the Americas in January 2025.
Minor Hotels aims to open over 200 new establishments by the end of 2026, thereby increasing its room inventory by more than 30,000 keys. The group will focus on achieving a geographical balance, with an increased presence in Asia and the Middle East, while continuing to expand its current portfolio of brands and introducing new brands in the luxury, premium, and select segments.
