Items to Bring Along
I suggest always carry a small first aid kit. You never know when you’re going to need a band-aid, Ibuprofen or Pain medication;
If you wear prescription eye wear, try to bring an extra pair along with you;
Pack some snacks with you in your carry on, just in case you are delayed and there’s no where to purchase any food;
As well, a water bottle is always handy, especially on long flights to help keep you well hydrated;
Pack plenty of sunscreen, especially if taking a tropical vacation. Sunscreen can be extremely expense, especially when traveling to foreign countries.

Hotels and Resorts
Number One priority is to check for Bed Bugs immediately when entering your hotel room. This goes even for the nicest of properties;
Check door locks to make sure they are secure, especially if you have a ground floor patio door;
Television Remote Controls and Telephones in your hotel room are filthy. If you use them, be sure to wash your hands afterwards;
Don’t leave anything you don’t want stolen, left out in the open to tempt others. Lock them away, or hide them well;
Never leave the Make Room Sign out on the door outside. This tells potential crooks that your room is vacant.

Handy Tips
Depending on your destination, packing toilet paper and soap with you can be a godsend. These two items came in very handy on my recent travels throughout India.
Scan and email your travel documents to you for safe keeping. For example, should lose your passport while traveling, this can make getting a replacement so much easier;
Travel Insurance is a no brainer … If you can afford to travel, you can afford travel medical insurance. Don’t leave home without it;
I always suggest booking your first nights stay prior to leaving home when traveling to a new destination. It’s always good to know you don’t have to search for a place to stay when you have just arrived, especially after a long and tiring flight;
When arriving at a new airport and destination, try to locate the Information Booth at the airport. These people are extremely helpful in assisting in any way they can. From locating ATM bank machines, taxi rates, bus transportation, hotels and much more.

General Tips
Day Packs – We always carry a day pack with us. We keep our passports, cellphone, credit cards and spare cash with us at all times. I always say; got a passport, cellphone and bank card … you’re good to go!
Men … never carry a wallet in your back pocket. I still see men of all ages walking around with their wallets sticking out of their back pocket when their traveling. Helloooo!
Women … don’t make it easy for thieves to easily grab your purse out of your arms. As well, try to make sure you purse closes securely and is not open to pick pockets;
ICE (In Case of Emergency) Add an ICE contact to your cell phone. First responders will look for this should they need to contact someone on your behave in case of an emergency;
Keep calm and relax when traveling. Things will always go not according to plan at some point. Don’t let this cause undo stress for you and those you are traveling with. It’s all a part of travel and things will work out in the long run.
Just a few more travel tips picked up along the way over the years, and gathered from seasoned travelers around the world.
