I woke up at 4am, ate breakfast and went to the main bus station by taxi, 8€. There I met Boštjan and we boarded Go Opti (5am, 27€) shuttle to Venice Airport Marco Polo.
On our way, I dozed off, smooth ride, with nice music with a bit of rain. We arrived around 7:30 am. We had a flight at noon and went to the city by bus, 10€ one way. From station we walked over Rialto bridge to St Marco Square (windy and flooded a bit) and back.
Piazza San Marco, Venice, Italy
Back at the airport after security procedures (checked my shower gel extra) we waited a bit before boarding a plane to Madrid by Iberia.
Almost 3 hours we spent on a flight with an A320, no leg space, and no free service – feels like low budget flight, sun in my window, and some nice views.
At Barajas Airport it was another 3 hours waiting before we moved on. We went out to smoke in the sun. At the airport, there are different areas where you can find smoking areas and water dispensers. We were hungry so we went to McDonald’s for a menu with beer, 10€.
Another Iberia flight on A321 to Dakar took almost 5 hours (return ticket Venice-Madrid-Dakar-Madrid-Venice was 330€). We boarded among the last people and sat at wings, great leg space. We got a cold meal and drinks.
On arrival after the security and migration process, it was time for ATM (1€=656 XOF) 200k XOF=311€, acquiring local SIM (6k XOF=9€, they installed SIM into my phone) and finding transport to our accommodation. We paid for the taxi 20k XOF=30 €. On our way we had a detour because of the accident, reverse driving on the highway. The cab driver tried to get more money from us, 30k CFA for toll, but we didn’t budge. We were staying at Casa Djoko, 20k XOF=30€, bathroom in room, shared kitchen, and breakfast (bread, butter, and jam at 5am).
After a cold shower, I ate a homemade sandwich and went to bed after midnight.
